Warwickshire Barn Phase 2

Our client got in touch with us early this year to look at phase two which incorporated all of the upstairs of the barn, this included 4 bedrooms, (two of them children’s rooms) one en-suite bathroom, one family bathroom and the stairs and landing.  I have to interject here; the owners of this property are really open to new suggestions and are not afraid of colour and like to embrace change.  From our perspective a dream and an absolute dream to work with.

Both the children’s rooms required joinery, one needed serious Lego display at the forefront of the design and the other so many soft toys needed to be housed or hidden away.  The joinery has been designed predominantly around solving the lack of storage, we’ve been practical but also conscious that we need to add style too.  We’ve added lighting to light treasured teddys and Lego sculptures and we’ve incorporated cupboards and drawers where possible along with seating.

The master suite has lovely existing carpet and the bed and bedside tables had to remain too.  This is a double aspect room and although, as with most barn conversions, the windows are small the rooms throughout the property are so very light and this master bedroom suite is no exception.  We have used a beautiful Harlequin wallpaper with a reflective oyster background with beautifully detailed birds in lovely jewel colours.  We’ve then designed a Chaise Longue to suit our clients requirements and this is upholstered in a soft cut pile chenille fabric.  The roman blinds are again using a lovely reflective thick satin fabric with a beautiful beaded trim along the bottom edge, these are lined and interlined to give that deep plush feel.  We have also added a beautiful bespoke French mattress seat cushion to an existing window seat.

The guest bedroom well this was and is a riot of pattern, colour and bravery.  This room is seriously a room of layers.  The base layer being a deep grey or Pidgeon blue/green hue and fitted wardrobes in an off white.  We’ve then gone for ticking stripe curtains and blinds with a large shaped headboard in a contrasting but complimentary Aztec style fabric by Andrew Martin.

The dark grey Shagreen bedside tables with blue resin lamp base’s and yellow velvets shades work well with the headboard and against the paint on the walls.

The small French chair was the clients own and we have re-upholstered it in a dark navy with a dash of buttercup yellow button in the centre. This is the blurb once phase two is completed.
